Love, Sayujya

Some journeys are meant to break the mold, and mine is one of them! I’m Sayujya Sajilal, the co-founder of this brand together with my mother, and this journey has been nothing short of exhilarating.

Born and raised in Kollam, Kerala, and like many, I followed the conventional path -completed Masters in Lifesciences from Bangalore and built a career in product management and marketing for healthcare companies. For 13 years, I thrived in the corporate world, working across Cochin and Pune but deep down, I always felt that a different path awaited me.

Sarees have fascinated me since my school days. My love for textiles only deepened as I grew watching my mother's sarees and later after travelling across India, discovering diverse weaves and fabrics. Friends and social media followers often admired my saree choices, and I started realizing that working women like me needed stylish yet practical and affordable options. That’s when the idea of creating a saree brand truly took shape.

Leaving a secure job to start something from scratch was daunting. Having no formal business background and everything - from sourcing to logistics to finances - was a challenge. But with persistence and a strong vision, I kept going. Within a year, my brand found a loyal community of saree lovers. Seeing my sarees featured on Faye D’Souza’s platform, Midday, and Photo Vogue was surreal.

This brand is deeply personal - it’s not just mine but also my mother’s. We are a mother-daughter duo, pouring our hearts into every piece we create. What started as a saree brand is now growing into a full-fledged lifestyle brand. We dream of bringing you not just sarees but also comfortable everyday cotton dresses, blouses, and more - while staying true to our love for Indian textiles and ethical fashion.

More than anything, my dream is also to build a community, a space where women uplift each other, share their love for fashion and lifestyle, and embrace their unique styles with confidence. The future holds exciting things for us, from supporting more artisans to taking our designs to a global audience.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from this journey, it’s this: Follow your passion, but do it with a plan. Be patient, be resilient, and most importantly, believe in yourself. Success isn’t overnight, but when you pour your heart into something, it has a way of finding you. And this dream would not have become a reality if not for my family & friends and my life partner, Abhilash.

Every piece here carries a part of my soul, and I hope you’ll cherish it just as much.

Let’s celebrate this journey together! Welcome to our world, welcome to Yarn Culture.

Love, Sayujya
